Principles of Leadership & Management Diploma Level 5 Awarding Body: Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Course Details The Diploma in the Principles of Leadership & Management develops a comprehensive range of basic middle management skills, assisting participants in gaining the knowledge required at this level. It encourages employees in taking responsibility for their own development and skills acquisition as opportunities are provided to develop soft skills, critical thinking, financial acumen and innovative thinking. There are five mandatory units: Understanding the Management Role to Improve Management Performance. Managing Improvement. Making a Financial Case. Developing Critical Thinking. Leading innovation and Change. Optional units are chosen from a broad range, examples are: Managing Individual Development. Understanding the Organisational Environment. Managing Recruitment. Understanding Organisational Culture and Ethics. The optional units are decided collaboratively between the lecturing team and enrolled candidates, although the Course Leader makes the final decision. Each candidate participates in an induction programme and is supported throughout their period of study with personal tutorials. To achieve the Level 5 Diploma in Principles of Leadership and Management a minimum of 37 credits must be achieved. A Course for The course is specially designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation in their formal development in this role. The unemployed with management experience will also find this course accessible. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements, but candidates will normally be either practising or aspiring middle managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from this programme.
