Brickwork Diploma Level 3 Course Details The course consists of the mandatory units listed below, two college based synoptic practical assignments, and an externally set subject knowledge test. The course consists of the following units of competence: Know and carry out safe working practices in construction. Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others. Knowledge of building methods and construction technology. Know how to carry out structural and decorative brickwork. Know how to repair and maintain masonry structures. Know how to erect complex masonry structures. Each of the above practical units has the necessary subject knowledge unit attached to it. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English, or Brickwork Diploma Level 2 or Intermediate Craft Award. Direct entry would require a Level 2 Diploma or ICA, however, some recent experience working on a construction site would be an advantage. For full details, it would be necessary to discuss with the tutor responsible. Assessment Units of training and practical skills evidence will be simulated within the college. There is an end test. Learning Outcome The Level 3 Diploma is designed to develop skills and knowledge of people, enabling them to work in the industry in their chosen craft. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions. Successful students might expect to progress on to the BTEC Technician awards.
