ASD (Autism) Awareness College Certificate Course Details This induction session is about increasing awareness about the nature of Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). Definitions of autism will be considered along with current research concerning the causes. Learners will consider the range of difficulties associated with high functioning autism and the implications for families and educational establishments. Entry Requirements None required. Assessment Continuous assessment throughout the session. Learning Outcome There are three learning outcomes. The learner will: Develop an understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). Have an increased awareness of how ASDs may affect students and why. Discuss practical strategies to enable practitioners to effectively support students with ASDs. Progression after Programme The underpinning knowledge from this session could be used in conjunction with Level 2 and Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools.
