This course introduces students to the skills of thinking and arguing in a critical and logical way. It will provide a framework which can be applied in a practical manner to a range of materials, situations, problems and issues. It will help you develop skills in reasoning; the ability to assess arguments and understand the credibility of sources; and resolution of dilemmas. Critical thinking provides an excellent support for many other subjects and the students will always be able to construct a sound argument which is a very useful transferable skill in all types of employment. Critical thinking tests skills similar to those required by the university entrance tests in specific subjects such as law, biomedics, UK Clinical admissions test and the Oxbridge Thinking Skills admissions test. Studying critical thinking can therefore enhance your skills in these areas and increase chances of success in university entrance tests.

It will provide a framework which can be applied in a practical manner to a range of materials, situations, problems and issues. It will help you develop skills in reasoning, the ability to assess arguments and understand the credibility of sources and resolution of dilemmas. The skills acquired in critical thinking are highly regarded as they provide a grounding in the studying skills needed at university.
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above in appropriate subjects. It is preferred that you will have GCSE English at grade B or above. Mature students are especially welcome on this course as they can make a valuable contribution on the basis of their life experience, providing another alternative interpretation of critical thinking.
