What will I learn?

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Appreciate the moral, legal and financial reasons for reducing injury and ill health resulting from work activities.
  • Understand the relationship between hazard, risk, risk assessment and safe systems of work.
  • Understand the hazards and risks associated with exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Be able to interpret information relating to hazardous substances.
  • Be able to identify appropriate control measures to reduce the risk of harm from exposure to harmful substances.
  • Be able to apply the principles and methodology to the risk assessment of processes that expose personnel to the potentially harmful effects of hazardous substances.
