CIW Perl Specialist

This qualification teaches students the concepts of the Perl programming language and introduces the necessary requirements for writing scripts. With the basic syntax and data types taught, students will be able to code their own scripts, interact with text files and debug Perl scripts through this qualification.

The CIW Perl Specialist course teaches developers how to fully use the features of the Perl programming language in Web application development. These specialised Web language skills can help you begin or grow a career in advanced Web development and technologies. Candidates who also have the CIW JavaScript Specialist certification and the CIW Database Design Specialist certification earn the advanced CIW Web Development Professional certification in addition.

Upon completion of this qualification, students are awarded an OLC Diploma and students can apply for the CIW Level 3 Perl Specialist examination.

Prerequisites

Students taking this course need a basic understanding of Internet functionality and tools, and X/HTML. No prerequisite courses or certifications are required prior to taking this course or the corresponding certification exam. However, the course and exam are challenging and comprehensive. CIW offers the Web Foundations Associate curriculum to provide the base of foundational X/HTML and Internet knowledge necessary for this course. The CIW Foundations courses are not required, but for many candidates they are extremely helpful.

Qualification

This qualification has been developed by CIW to teach students the skills required for a career in web design and IT. CIW have a strong reputation for providing quality course materials and certification to professionals in many different countries.

The examination for this course must be taken at an approved CIW centre and is marked out of a possible 50. The examination is 75 minutes in length and students must achieve a grade of 75% or more in order to pass. Exam ID: 1D0-437

Assessments

The CIW Perl Specialist course prepares candidates to take the CIW Perl Specialist exam, which if passed earns the individual the CIW Perl Specialist certification. CIW courses are examined in either a Pearson VUE or Prometric test centre and candidates must apply for their examinations and pay the necessary fee of £90 to sit the test.
