The course is suitable for artists, photographers, illustrators, graphic designers and students wanting to extend their knowledge of four-colour screenprinting. It will include a half-day introduction to Adobe Photoshop to enable four-colour separation in CMYK print format, and is an ideal follow-on from the Screenprinting – Beginners course.

There is high demand in illustration, graphic design, photography and fine art to create hand-printed imagery for books, exhibitions, music promotion posters and festival marketing. Screenprints have a raw, hand-finished richness that makes promotional materials stand out from the crowd. Every print is original and often has miniscule flaws that demonstrate the hand-made ethic.

This course is very practical involving colour theory and print colour theory using CMYK separation. You will learn how to create four-colour artwork appropriate to screenprinting, expose an image onto a large screen, learn hand screenprinting methods, explore overlapping and colour layering, half tone printing, consider designs in new ways and gain knowledge of screen exposure. You will use advanced equipment within the university, experience the use of a vast print workshop equipped to expose screens and be taught by an experienced printmaker with years of screen printing and Photoshop experience. With only eight spaces available there will be plenty of one-to-one attention and space to work.

The course is for portfolio development and to extend your skills, is ultimately satisfying and fun. It is a technical, hands-on workshop where you will have a screen to work from for the whole course and from where you will leave with a variety of prints.
