Art and Design Portfolio, Short Course Programme

On this course you will experiment with both 2D and 3D art and design techniques in a range of materials to create exciting new pieces for your portfolio.

The course is project-based so, after completing a variety of short projects and homework in art, drawing, painting, sculpture, graphics and product design you will then develop your new skills and ideas to make a final, more considered piece at the end of the course. Class discussions and both group and individual tutorials will give guidance to your project as it progresses, and you will be expected to develop sketchbooks to demonstrate your idea process and research skills.

The course is very hands on. There will be demonstrations but you are also encouraged to develop your own ideas and maybe even invent your own techniques. Research forms the basis of any art and design project so you will be introduced to other artists and designers work in class with further research to be undertaken at home.

This course is ideal for anyone looking to pursue art or design, especially if you are applying for a creative degree and do not have an art foundation. It is also a great opportunity for anyone generally looking to learn and experiment with new art and design skills and techniques. At the end of the course you will have another project to add to your portfolio to show at interview, and sketchbooks of ideas, work in progress, additional skills and a new found confidence about your work.
