Is this course for me?

The Extended Degree is a four or five year degree programme leading to the award of a BSc Honours/BSc Degree in one of a choice of science subjects, or a combination of subjects. You spend an initial, introductory year at NHC and then progress to the University of Hertfordshire and study at the Hatfield Campus.

What does the course involve?

This course is a one year science and maths course as preparation for a science or maths degree at the University of Hertfordshire. If you want to study for a degree in science but do not have the appropriate qualifications for direct entry on to year 1 of a BSc. degree programme at the University of Hertfordshire, you can now apply for a BSc Extended Degree in science. Students are assessed through coursework, exams, presentations and practical assignments.

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? On successful completion of the initial year, you can continue your degree studies at the University of Hertfordshire, progressing to a variety of science degrees (dependent on your grades), eg Astrophysics, Geography, Pharmaceutical Science, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Physiology, Physics, Environmental Studies, Sports Science and Exercise and a range of subjects on the Joint Honours programme.
