The EDI Level 3 (SVQ) in Health & Social Care offered by Education Development International (EDI) has been developed from the National Occupational Standards produced jointly by the standard setting bodies (including Scottish Social Services Council and Skills for Health). The aim of this qualification is to contribute to the skills, knowledge and overall performance of the care industries workforce. It provides a first insight into the principles and processes of the delivery of health and social care to clients and will aid career progression.
This SVQ is about the delivery of health and social care to clients. This includes direct care, where the focus is hands-on care and on the development and maintenance of the client's independence.
The focus of this SVQ is carrying out tasks for people that may be temporarily or permanently unable to do for themselves. It reflects medium to high levels of dependence and a number of specialist interventions, including undertaking clinical activities, enabling clients to manage their financial affairs, obtaining and testing blood samples and representing an individual's interests when they are unable to do so.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be assessed in the workplace by an assessor and upon completion of your portfolio to the awarding body. Observation of work practices is mandatory
The qualification requires the completion of 8 units:
- 4 Mandatory Units
- 4 Optional Units
