This one-morning workshop will provide a fascinating insight into the history of displaying art from different parts of the world and current ways that this is done today in the UK and elsewhere. Why do we call many museums and galleries today World Arts or World Cultures, when in the past they were more often called Ethnographic? Why are contemporary artist from outside Europe still often put in shows that refer to a particular part of the world, but we do not often have a show on European Art? What is the influence about the way we display objects on what we ‘tell’ about art and people from different areas on the globe.
