This course includes the five modules necessary to gain the full City & Guilds award. In Unit 2 – Sites, Soils and cultivation: Develop knowledge of sites, soils and methods of cultivation. In Unit 3 – Trees, Shrubs & Hedges: Develop knowledge of trees, shrubs and hedges. In Unit 9 –Organic Gardening: Develop knowledge of organic gardening. In Unit 5 – Plant Propagation: Develop knowledge of plant propagation. In Unit 10 – Garden Design: Develop a sound understanding of the basics of design and planting.

Examination costs are included in the published course fees. City & Guilds registration for new learners is not included and is payable on enrolment.

Additional costs may be also be incurred for the materials used during the course.

Learner & Entry Requirements:

No experience necessary. Although guidance is given in your learning and preparation for the exams, this is a more academic than practical course, requiring a large proportion of study outside of class.

To apply for this course you will need to have achieved 5 GCSE passes at A-C equivalent. Adult returners will be considered following a discussion with the tutor or programme co-ordinator. Two field trips will be included if possible.

General & First session:

If you have pen and paper please bring them, but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective:

To guide you to gain a complete City & Guilds qualification in Gardening

You will have the opportunity to gain a complete qualification with an all-round knowledge base in gardening.

Assessment:

Through tasks, practical projects, homework, Question & Answer sessions, Questionnaires/ 10 mins. and City & Guilds examinations at the end of each of the modules.

The City & Guilds certificate comprises five modules and has an examination at the end of each module. Once all five modules have been successfully completed, you will be awarded the certificate.
