General & First Session:Sketchbook and pencils HB, 2B
If you have any of the following items please bring them but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed. Appropriate materials will be discussed at the first lesson –watercolour paper, basic set of paints, watercolour brushes size 6 and 12 and water soluble coloured pencils.

Course Aim & Objective:
The aim of the course is to introduce learners to watercolour and
help them choose appropriate materials to get the best colour mixes
and effects; to develop basic drawing skills which are essential to
achieve a realistic painting and to encourage a confident and
creative use of this beautiful medium.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment by observation, question and answer and self
and peer group assessment
Progression:
Progress can be made within the course or by moving to another
course offered by Kingston Adult Education
On this course you will be develop the following skills and knowledge:
- Mix a full spectrum of colours using 3 or 6 colours
- Choose appropriate paper for desired oputcome
- Make a variety of marks with brushes and other compatible materials to show movement and texture
- Recognise warm, cool, complementary and neutral colours.
- Work in wet in wet or wet on dry and lay flat or graded washes
- Understand relative tonal values
