This course aims to give anyone and everyone (with an interest in using essential oils safely and effectively at home) a basic knowledge of Aromatherapy and Massage skills. It enables you to consider taking the ITEC professional qualifications in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage. There is a small charge for essential oils at the beginning of the course.
Learner & Entry Requirements:Must be healthy and mobile, and prepared to massage and be massaged.
General & First session:Please wear loose clothing (e.g. T-shirt and tracksuit bottoms) and purchase oils from the tutor. If you already have a notepad and pen, 1 medium towel and 1 large towel, please bring them but do not purchase them specifi…

KAE is unable to offer refunds for any equipment, materials or books if the course is subsequently closed.
Course Aim & Objective:To give a basic knowledge of Aromatherapy and Massage skills. To prepare to take the ITEC exam in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage.
You should be able to: understand the main properties of essential oils and the principles of blending; identify the uses of essential oils; achieve client care and hygiene; learn about the history of massage; and complete a basic massage routine.
Assessment:
Homework (light reading or exercises) is set at the end of each
week to enable the tutor to assess whether you have understood what
has been taught,. On returning the following week, there is either:
a test; a discussion on the topic; or you must show that you have
learnt the massage routine.
We will recognise and record your progress against the following aims.
- By week two know the contraindications for massage
- By week four understand why specific massage movements are performed and when.
- By week six know the contraindications for aromatherapy combined with massage
- By week eight be able to perform a simple massage routine
- Understand and apply the appropriate visual risk assessments and the Health & Safety skills and knowledge required to carry out activities related to this course.

Progression:After the Aromatherapy and Massage Levels 1 and 2 course at KAE (ask at the office), you may like to consider taking the ITEC (professional qualification) in anatomy, physiology and massage. For further information, check www.itecworld.co.uk.
