It is able to draw upon the expertise of academics from several global institutes and centres such as the Centre for the Middle East and Mediterranean studies the Brazil Institute, the India Institute and the China Institute. European & International Studies staff are ranked in departments that are amongst the top four in the country according to the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise. The programme offers an in-depth analysis of major scholarly debates in political economy, global politics, political thought, and international relations. Students will study a range of interdisciplinary approaches on the core module (international political economy) and then choose from a wide range of specialist modules covering specific regions or issues relating to international politics and economics (energy policy, welfare states, economic governance, law, critical political economy, the EU and Asia, Russia and the EU).
