PURPOSEThe programme aims to provide the professional with an
in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the most important theoretical
and practical aspects of EU law by focusing on the Treaties of the
European Union. The programme will: deal with the free movement of
goods and people (including citizenship), the freedom of
establishment, the freedom to provide services, the free movement
of capital and economic and monetary union. It also covers
competition law, social policy, environmental policy and external
relations. Concludes with judicial review of EU law, including
liability of EU institutions, and the enforcement of EU law with
regard to the protection of individual's rights in national courts
and with regard to the applicable procedures.
DESCRIPTION
The syllabus covers: an introduction to the Treaties, including
the EU institutions and legislative procedures; free movement of
goods and people (including citizenship); freedom of establishment;
freedom to provide services; free movement of capital and Economic
and Monetary Union; competition law; social policy; environmental
law; external relations; judicial review of EU law, including
liability of EU institutions; enforcement of EU law with regard to
the protection of an individual's rights in national courts and to
the applicable procedures; research methods.

Module Three: Substantive Policies II & Procedural Aspects.
