Highly experienced trainer
Dr Geoff Harmer has over 29 years experience in the IT industry and has been awarded Chartered Engineer (CEng), Fellow of the British Computer Society (FBCS), Chartered Information Technology Professional (CITP) and Certified in The Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) status. He is an accredited lecturer for ITIL with the Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB), for COBIT with ISACA and for ISO 20000 with APMG (formerly itSMF). He is also an Associate Lecturer in Technology with the Open University (since 2000).
What does this course cover?
The training course is an interactive session illustrating the implementation of the COBIT framework for supporting Enterprise Governance of IT. Delegates will be provided with a step through approach of the full lifecycle of COBIT. Identifying needs through the implementation and sustenance of process, to enable governance of IT processes supporting business strategies, and then recycling back to a continual process in repeating these practices. The course is case study driven, illustrating the necessary practices to be undertaken for successful IT governance implementation
During the course, delegates will learn:
- Identification of IT issues and their related business impacts;
- Principles of IT Governance and the integration of these principles into the Enterprise Governance of IT;
- Defining successful Enterprise Governance of IT;
- COBIT, VAL IT and Risk IT as a supporting framework for Governance of Enterprise IT;
- Defining where and how to start;
- Applying the framework(s) in practice;
- Relationship to other frameworks/standards and the impact on implementing COBIT;
- Components and supporting tools of COBIT used in implementation;
- ISACA's approach to IT governance implementation using the COBIT Framework;
- Practical implementation factors;
- IT Control practices;
- IT Assurance practices – overview introduced;
- Sustaining IT governance implementation;
- Creating meaningful measures and management feedback in performance measurement framework.
Are there entry requirements?
It is a pre-requisite for attending this course and sitting the exam, that delegates already hold the COBIT Foundation Certificate, this can be gained by attending our ISACA-defined COBIT Foundation course, which includes the ISACA COBIT Foundation exam.
Additional Information
Exam: The ISACA Implementing Governance of Enterprise IT Using COBIT exam is taken on the last day of the course.
Please note:
- The COBIT course starts promptly at 9am each day.
- The exam is taken during the afternoon of the last day of the course.
- The exam board do not allow non-English speakers/readers any extra time to sit the exam
- COBIT is a registered trade mark of ISACA and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI)
