We currently offer these courses at the Isle of Man College -

Beginners' Guide to Mobile Phones - This free course run by Manx Telecom Trainers, aims to take the mystery out of using a mobile and explain its basic functions to beginners. Students can bring their own mobile phone to the course, alternatively there will be the opportunity to purchase a mobile phone on the day, at a promotional price.

An Introduction to the Isle of Man Government Income Tax Online Services - This free course run by members of the Isle of Man Government Tax Division, will explain and demonstrate how to register, enrol and use the Government Income Tax Online Services. N.B. Students will need to bring photo I.D. from an Isle of Man Driving Licence or their passport if they wish to enrol for Income Tax Online Services at this session.

Understanding and Observing the Weather - 10 week course - Introduction to the theory and practice of weather observation and forecasting with particular reference to the Isle of Man.

Shorthand For Fun - 25 week course - This course is aimed at complete beginners and will cover the theory/practice of Pitman New Era Shorthand to enable students to make quick notes in everyday life e.g. phonecalls/meetings/lectures. Students should note that the course will not aim for high speeds for business use. Course book recommended: The Pitman New Era Shorthand Anniversary Edition (Pearson/Longman).

Learn to Learn - 2 weeks - Learn how to learn more efficiently. Guidance given to assist with studying for exams, improving your memory, learning a language and remembering names, dates and lists.

Introduction to Self-Defence - one-day workshop - Basic introduction to self-defence taught by a holder of Black Belt in Ju Jitsu, Judo, Karate and Aikido. Students should wear loose-fitting clothing and trainers.
