What is the Course About?Isle of Man College Microsoft Short Courses
Are you working in a Government Department? Do you want to learn
how to be more productive with Microsoft Office? We have the
courses and skills to help you. We have tailored our courses to
meet the needs of the learner and cover levels from beginners to
experienced users.
All courses are held in our own training room at Thie Ushtey (a few
minutes’ walk from the main College). We can also offer bespoke
courses where the training can be customised for your specific
requirements and can be held either in our training centre or on

What Subjects will I study?
Each course concentrates on one specific Office application at
Foundation, Inetermediate and Advanced levels.
Word
Microsoft Word is an application that many users are familiar with,
but are probably not using to its full potential. There are four
courses to choose from which will take you from the fundamentals of
creating short documents to generating lengthy reports using
advanced tools such as styles, cross-referencing and automated
tables of contents.
Excel
Excel is an excellent tool for working with data lists, financial
sheets and charts. We offer four courses which will help you
develop skills such as charts, pivot tables and formulas to
analyse, share and manage data with ease.
PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint is THE tool for creating dynamic and
persuasive presentations. Our foundation and advanced courses cover
design tools such as SmartArt, themes and master slides, allowing
you to create consistently professional looking presentations with
just a few mouse clicks.
Outlook
Microsoft Outlook is one of the applications that people use every
day. Our course can help to improve efficiency by training you in
email organisation and effective use of calendars and tasks.
Project
Microsoft Project is the world-leading tool for project management.
Our course will take you from creating simple task lists to
resource and time scheduling. An advanced course is also available
if there is demand for it, contact us for more details.
Visio
Microsoft Visio allows you to create a huge array of diagrams using
built-in shapes and templates, ranging from house plans to network
diagrams to organisation charts. We offer foundation and advanced
courses in this application.
Publisher
Microsoft Publisher is an easy to use, flexible program for
creating newsletters, brochures, business cards, flyers amongst
others for print. You will learn how to create, format, revise, and
print publications as well as looking at the built in templates
available.
