Note that Integrated MPhil/PhD students complete only the taught modules of their chosen Masters programme, not the dissertation. The taught modules are undertaken over the first two years of full-time study (or the first three years of part-time study), alongside the doctoral research project. Successful completion of all taught modules is a condition of progression to the third year of the programme (or the fourth year for part-time students).
Who is this programme for?
The programme is aimed at doctoral applicants who recognise the value of accredited research methods training but do not want to delay their doctoral work for a year in order to complete a research-focused Masters programme.
Attendance
Modules are primarily taught face-to-face in daytime and evening sessions, though some modules can be taken online. Doctoral supervisions may be conducted face-to-face, by phone or electronically.
The programme is designed to be completed in four years of full-time study or seven years of part-time study. The entry date is October each year.
Entry requirements
The normal minimum requirement is an upper second-class honours degree from a recognised university, or a professional graduate qualification accepted by the Institute as equivalent.
