Entry Requirements
- 200 GCSE entry points including English at Grade C or have a Level 2 Diploma at Merit level
- You will have to provide examples of art and design work at interview
- We also welcome applications from students with relevant experience or qualifications
What will I be doing on the course?
You will develop your design ability together with technical and practical skills in a range of projects:
- Fashion design, pattern cutting and garment production
- Visual studies
- Textile studies
- Computer aided design
- Communication skills developed through historical and contextual studies
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous throughout the programme, culminating in an extended project and an end of year fashion show. Functional skills are assessed through online tests.
What will I need?
Students are required to purchase a basic art and sketchbook kit and additional garment making equipment and must purchase fabrics for the garments made. You will be given a list and price guides to help you with this.
What can I do next?
- Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification and developed your personal skills
- This will give you a wide range of different options to choose within the fashion industry
- You will then have the opportunity to progress to employment or higher education
Additional Activities
There is an enrichment programme of trips to galleries, museums and exhibitions in London. You may undertake a work experience placement and you will also produce a collection for a catwalk show. You will be able to develop skills in English, Numeracy and ICT through taking Functional Skills as appropriate.
