Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply

It is our view that many employers underestimate the significant impact that good procurement practice can have on their organisation’s bottom line. It is an area which can deliver significant savings if purchasing staff are suitably equipped. For businesses to keep ahead in their sector, regular training and updating of procurement skills is essential.

Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is recognised globally as the Chartered centre of excellence for procurement and supply training. Having employees that are CIPS qualified will equip an organisation with the necessary expertise to cope with every procurement situation. It also sends a clear message to existing or prospective employees that the organisation is serious about providing a professional working environment.

Why choose Glyndŵr University?

Our modules are carefully designed to develop professional competence, build an up-to-date knowledge base as well as enhance career prospects and employability. CIPS students will leave us as leading edge procurement professionals.

Each module meets the standards of the CIPS qualification framework. Collectively they are designed to develop procurement and supply management employees, whatever their experience in their chosen profession. Courses may be tailored to particular sectors.

All of our tutors have considerable industrial and professional experience, and use practical scenarios and real life lessons to work with employees and organisations on whatever procurement challenges they face.

How does it work?

We offer the following CIPS approved and awarded qualifications:

Level 2: Introductory Certificate in Purchasing and Supply

Level 3: Certificate in Purchasing and Supply

Level 4: Diploma in Purchasing and Supply

Level 5: Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply

Level 6: Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply

This structure enables our CIPS students to recognise each stage of their development from Certificate right through to Honour’s degree. In this way, they feel a strong sense of achievement for their progression. It also allows students the flexibility to exit their studies at a stage that suits their needs whilst still having gained an industry recognised qualification.

When are the classes held?

The five levels above vary in commitment from a two day course (level 2) to five units delivered over a number of days (levels 3-6). Our classes will typically be held during the working week which means that some study leave dispensation from employers will be necessary.
