Introduction to EuroPacketCable Multimedia

Overview

EuroPacketCable Multimedia is a specification that describes a general-purpose platform designed to support a wide range of IP-based, QoS demanding multimedia services such as live video or audio streaming, video conferencing, VOD, gaming, VoIP over SIP, … Although it builds upon the EuroPacketCable specification, the voice related aspects of that standard are not a requirement to deploy EuroPacketCable Multimedia on the network.

EuroPacketCable Multimedia has been developed to sit alongside of EuroPacketCable and cable operators are guaranteed interoperability and compatibility when deploying both standards in parallel.
The course will give you an insight in the architecture of EuroPacketCable Multimedia, and more specific in architectures with QoS unaware clients. It explains how QoS is set up in the cable access network and covers in detail other aspects of the standard such as event messages and security on interfaces.
