Our MSc Human Resource Management degree will enable you to make a significant contribution to people management practice and develop a deep understanding of the changing role of HRM in the development and implementation of employment policies and procedures. You will learn the specialist skills and expertise you need to be effective and influential in a human resources management role at both strategic and operational levels and acquire an in-depth understanding of key policy areas such as recruitment and selection, training and development, employee relations and performance management. Aimed at managers already working in the field of people management, as well as those who see their careers developing in this direction, the course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) as an advanced level qualification and provides you with the knowledge indicators required for chartered membership of the CIPD. This master’s course is located within the School of Management, part of our Business School. With an innovative network of academics and HRM practitioners employed in both business and research, we can provide a unique blend of expertise in human resource management, well-being and leadership practice. You'll have access to the people involved in leading edge of policy and theoretical developments in this ever-changing profession. During this course, you'll develop valuable skills in people management, including the key areas of employee relations, employee development and employee resourcing. You will graduate with an advanced practical and theoretical understanding of all areas of HRM. Development of research abilities is also emphasised, and you'll learn techniques and strategies that will enable you to critically reflect on your workplace experiences, and create your own ongoing programme of professional development. What's involved Based over two years, the course will involve lectures, tutorials and independent study. It is possible to exit the course at the completion of Year 2 with a Postgraduate Diploma in HRM. Year 1 People and Organisational Development; Organisational Context of HRM; Employee Resourcing; Employment Law Year 2 Learning and Development, Labour Relations, Research Skills and Professional Development. Year 2 May - August Dissertation On completion of this course you will have achieved the knowledge indicators required to allow you to apply for chartered membership of the CIPD.

Requirements at a glanceEntry to the courseYou'll need a recognised honours degree or equivalent for entry into this course. Alternatively, you may have an equivalent professional qualification, or qualifications / experience that are equivalent. In this case, you will be asked to produce a specified piece of work as part of the selection process. If you do not have the required qualifications please contact us as we can review your profile/experience as a suitable applicant for our ‘Associate Student’ route.
