This degree offers advanced entry for students with a strong academic profile but who may not have a qualification in computing. In this course, you'll gain a thorough understanding of computing theory and practice, enabling you to solve problems and build solutions. The first year of the programme provides core computing skills in software design, development and engineering, database theory, design and development and other computing areas. As the course progresses you will gain in-depth expertise and skills as you apply your knowledge in computing science, and plan, monitor and manage both group and individual projects. The course includes an optional one year work placement where you will learn the processes involved in bringing a project to completion, as well as communication, teamwork and reporting skills. What's involved The course will involve lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, independent study and an option to study overseas in trimester 2 of year 2. This course is also offered with a year-long industry based work placement in year 2.
