You'll learn modern hospital laboratory practices plus research and development practice in the healthcare industries through site visits to specialised laboratories and tuition from experts in the hospital and biomedical research sectors. You'll also undertake a research project which can be conducted in research institutions, academic laboratories or the pharmaceutical industries both in the UK and across Europe. This course will advance your knowledge of specialist areas and develop new professional skills to a high level. You'll be able to deal with complex issues in biomedical science, make informed judgements and communicate your conclusions clearly to professional audiences. What's involved The course is studied by individualised part-time study with attendance for up to four years. This means that you can study in your own time, at your own pace. You can choose to start this course in either February or September. You'll learn by a variety of teaching methods including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and through independent study. There may also be some opportunities to study abroad. This course can also be studied full-time. You will study modules in: ? Biology of Disease & Therapeutics, Advanced Immunology, Toxicology ? Research Skills - Molecular Analysis, Drug Design and Chemotherapy, Pathogenesis of Microbial Infection ? Independent industry based research project

Requirements at a glance Entry to the course You'll need an Honours degree in bio-molecular sciences, such as biology, biomedical science, molecular biology, immunology, genetics, virology or pharmacy.
