Description

This course is for those with some woodworking experience. You can advance your skills and joint-making techniques, and complete a piece of furniture or small wooden object. It's the ideal next step after gaining confidence at the beginner level on basic projects.

Less experienced students cover basic techniques by doing a set project in the first weeks, and this is followed by further skills appropriate to your own designs. If you're at a more advanced level you can develop your own ideas with design and technical guidance from the teacher.

You receive individual feedback during each session. There is no formal assessment on this course.

Developing Woodwork Skills is a practical workshop-based course with group and individual demonstrations of a variety of techniques. You work on your own designs at a pace appropriate to your skill level and experience.

On this course you develop your woodworking skills through workshop practice.

No experience is necessary, there are no formal entry requirements. Just come along and enjoy working with wood!

Re-enrol for further terms to gain more experience and make more complex pieces of your own. Take a look at our furniture courses if you're interested in full-time study, or explore other woodwork and creative arts short courses if you want to develop further creative skills.

The course takes place in fully-equipped workshops in the Rycotewood Furniture Centre, and all materials are provided.
