An Introduction to Massage

Learn the basics of body massage and learn how to provide this popular treatment with our introductory course. It could even be your starter into a career in beauty or holistic therapy.

You learn about:

Swedish body massage and its effects and benefits
anatomy and physiology
monitoring and maintaining best health and safety practice in the salon
client care and communication in beauty related industries

There are no formal assessments but your tutor will observe and guide you through the programme.

There is a strong emphasis on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently.

As well as a new knowledge of massage techiques, you develop wider skills vital for success in further study or employment. ers taking responsibility and time management. By the end of the course you will have benefitted from a valuable insight into future study or careers open to you.

No qualifications are required but you do need an interest in massage therapyo have an interview. An interest to progress within other areas of study would be ideal and your place is subject to a short interview.

On successful completion of the course you can progress to other therapy courses such as Indian Head Massage Pre-Blended Oils or a full-time Beauty Therapy course. Alternatively you may decide to provide treatments you have learnt for members of your family.

An Introduction to Massage provides a mixture of class theory and practical salon work. You learn in our professionally-equipped on-campus salons.
