The course develops the appropriate hand skills and underpinning knowledge you’ll need to work as a qualified Stonemason.

What You Need:

On the job training and work based assessment are essential parts of the course and as such you must be employed in the industry as an Apprentice Stonemason.

What You Study:

Year 1: Cutting various roman mouldings, producing templates, building ashlar, random rubble, snecked rubble, brick and block walling, scaffold appreciation and producing surface finishes.

Year 2: Building a Semi-Circular Arch, Cutting Mouldings on a Radius, Step Construction, Battered and Radial Walling, Cladding, Timber Frame Construction and Repairing Masonry Structures.

Year 3 & 4 subjects still to be confirmed

Location:

Rogart Street Building

Dates:

Year 1: 19 weeks in college from 8.30am-4.30pm
Starting in August on a block release basis.

Year 2: 13 weeks as above

Year 3: 1 week in College

Year 4: 1 week in College
