Overview
About This Course:Specialised courses designed for candidates who wish to work on board vessels carrying liquid cargoes in bulk as either officer of the watch or higher ranks.
There are three specialised courses to choose from:
- Specialised Chemical Tanker
- Specialised Gas Tanker
- Specialised Oil Tanker
Tanker Familiarisation Certificate or at least 3 months seagoing experience in the type of vessel carrying the cargo the certificate will be isued for. Candidates will also need testimonials from their employer detailing the periods on board their vessels and the nature of the cargoes carried.

What You Study:Depending on the type of certificate candidates will study the caharacteristics of the particular typpes of cargo under consideration, safety procedures when loading, discharging and on passage. Tankcleaning procedures including Inert Gas systems, Crude Oil washing and pre cooling operations in the case of Gas tankers
After The Course:Employment as Watchkeeping Officer on board a vessel carrying Oil, Gas or Chemical cargoes
