The minimum age is 18 years on or before the commencement of the programme. You are likely to have completed an approved course at Level 3, for example a National or Extended Diploma in Early Years, or you may have undertaken relevant work-experience in an care/education-related field relating to children. Concepts related to being a reflective practitioner and work based learning are central to this programme. As this is a Sector Endorsed practice award, students are expected to be working or volunteering in an early years' setting for the duration of the course.

Assessment:

Assessment is by written assignments, presentations, portfolios and exams.

Academic Progression:

Students completing the programme can progress onto the final year of the BA (Hons) Childhood Studies and then apply for initial teacher training programmes such as PGCE or SNITT or Early Years Professional Status training and development.

Career Progression:

Graduates from this programme can expect to access a wide variety of careers, including management of early years' settings and local authority work in support of young children.
