Core Skills:The programme is based around six modules:
Developing as an effective HR practioner
Understanding organisations and the role of HR
Recording, analysing and using HR information
Resourcing talent
Good practice in employment relations
Learning and development activities.
Assessment:There are no formal exams in this programme. Assessment is continuous via assignments and presentations.
Academic Progression:You may wish to progress to the CIPD Advanced Diploma in HRM, but this is not currently offered at City College.
Career Progression:CIPD qualifacations are essential in a career in HR.
Full Description:The Certificate in HRPis a foundation-level programme, at an equivalent level to NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Personnel Support.
The qualification is intended for:
- Anyone working at the level of personnel assistant, personnel administrator or personnel officer, whose role is to provide support for key aspects of the personnel function
- Someone new to, or aspiring to, a career in the personnel function
- Line managers, supervisors or team leaders who wish to gain the same level of personnel skills as practitioners at this level
- The owners or managers of small businesses
- Individuals who wish to pursue a career in management but who do not wish to specialise at too early a stage and who would like to 'sample' personnel
- Individuals who wish to pursue a career in personnel but who do not currently have the academic background and/or experienced to enrol on the Professional Development Scheme.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the professional personnel management organisation in the UK. It has a history stretching back over 70 years, and is leading authority on human resource management. Its qualifications are highly valued by personnel practitioners.
Costs:These are determined in late August/early September. They are likely to be in the region of £1700 for the year. Students will also need to join, or be existing members of the CIPD. Books are required also.
