Full Time

The course has both theory and practical parts which will prepare you for work in bricklaying. You will learn:




-Carry out safe working practices in Construction


-Information, Quantities and Communicating with others


-Building Methods and Construction Technology


-Carry out Basic Block-laying Skills


-Carry out Basic Bricklaying Skills


-Carry out Basic Cavity Walling


-Contribute to Setting Out and Building Basic Masonry Structures up to Damp Course Level




There will also be a requirement for students to complete Essential Skills in Communication, Application of Number and ICT.

How you will gain the qualification

Assessment is by a range of methods which may include assignments, projects, case studies, practical exercises, question papers and portfolio building.


What qualifications you need

Applicants are required to have 4 GCSEs at grade E or above or successfully completed Skills for Construction course or equivalent qualification or experience. You will be required to attend an interview with the Course Tutor.




Candidates will need to provide suitable clothing and safety footwear for practical workshop sessions. Stationery equipment and materials will also be required.


Where to next

Learners can progress on to Brickwork Diploma Level 2, Level 2 Construction & Built Environment(with GCSEs) or an Apprenticeship.
