Teaching and assessment
The course is assessed through a combination of written assignments, tests, presentations and project work. To pass the Diploma in Progression, students must achieve 45 credits in total - which is usually equivalent to passing 15 units or subjects in the year. Some units (up to 4) can also be achieved at Level 1.
Entry requirements
To apply for the Progression Diploma you must be aged 19 or over and have an ability and a genuine desire to study at GSCE level. If English is not your first language, it is recommended that you have the relevant IELTS qualification or equivalent.
Although no formal qualifications are required, admission to the course will depend on the results of literacy and numeracy tests as well as a free-writing exercise and interview. Students should demonstrate that they are operating at Level 1, working towards Level 2 in both key skill subjects.

Registration fee £100
Progression
Students who complete the course successfully very often progress on to an Access to H.E. course, but please note, this is subject to passing mandatory units, having a suitable tutor reference and passing the subsequent Access admission tests. Students may, of course, wish to use their Level 2 qualification to find suitable employment or to study on other Level 3 programmes.
Dates and times
This course is run over three days a week. Students should allow approximately 10 hours a week for self-study/homework.
