The vocational subjects have been selected for their practical application and the emphasis on team work, which is a crucial element of any job. Each student will continue to develop their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills through practical application.

Teaching and assessment

Assessment is continuous, mainly by practical assignments in all subjects, simulated work projects and work experience. Students will undertake work experience(between one to two days per week) during the Spring and Summer terms. Placements will be organised by the co-ordinator. The course team will review students’ progress formally three times a year in relation to the course aims and their individual development targets.

Entry requirements

Moving On Plan (139A assessment) or similar. Report from most recent school or training regarding attendance and time keeping.

Be competent in travelling independently, able to establish a good working relationship with both staff and their peers and to participate in educational visits & out of college activities.

Additional course costs

Students are expected provide their own safety boots or shoes for practical subjects and to be equipped with pens and paper at all times. There may be occasional charges for educational visits.

Progression

Students will be working towards the achievement of a Diploma in Foundation Learning in Supported Employment enabling them to progress into the workplace. All students will be introduced to appropriate supported employment services to assist them in achieving eventual employment.
