The Advanced Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals is ideal for people aged from 16-65 who are employed in a technical environment. College attendance is on a part-time basis and assessment will take place in the workplace and classroom. Students are required to build a portfolio of evidence to prove their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Course content
- Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals
- Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems and Principles for Apprentices
- Functional Skills Level 2 English and Mathematics

The course is demanding and requires organisation, commitment and teamwork. During the course the Apprentice will build up a portfolio of evidence to prove they have gained the necessary skills and experience in IT Support (they will be supported by an assessor in this) and will be entered for assessments as appropriate.
Teaching and assessment
Course assignments, discussions, observations and practical sessions in the workplace/classroom. Functional Skills testing.
Entry requirements
The apprentice must be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week in a suitable role which demonstrates competence. They must also be able to attend college on a part time basis. Hold the Level 2 Apprenticeship for IT, Software, Web & Telecoms Professionals qualification or be able to demonstrate appropriate knowledge and understanding. All applicants will be assessed in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. There must be a line manager committed to on-the job training who will liaise with College staff.
Additional course costs
Training on the Apprenticeship Programme for 16-18 year olds is fully funded by the Government. Training for Apprenticeships for 19-24 year olds is part funded, with employers expected to make a contribution. Funding for apprentices aged 25 is very limited and employers are expected to make a part contribution.
