Working in a PRINCE2 Project

Overview

PRINCE2 is the most widely used project management methodology in the UK today. It is implemented across many industry sectors and public sector organisations and is critical to the success of many business transformations. The methodology encompasses the management, control and organisation of a project. While strong project management is key to a successful outcome, many other roles play a significant part in the day to day project activities and how these roles interact with the project is also crucial. This 2 day course focuses on these roles and explains how individuals can work effectively within a PRINCE2 managed project and positively affect its outcome.

The course will allow delegates to understand:

• What constitutes a PRINCE2 project
• How the PRINCE2 method could be applied to different project scenarios
• Why the PRINCE2 method must adapted to different circumstances
• What generic project management specific skills delegates need, outside of the PRINCE2 method, in order to successfully operate in a project environment
• How communication and stakeholder engagement is critical to the success of a project
• What negotiation and conflict management approaches are available to aid the project
• How team building and leadership is a vital foundation to the success of any project

Course Format
The learning event (based on a non-complex project) will be conducted from a practical viewpoint and will involve role play and homework. The practical work will be backed up by reference to appropriate theories and research carried out, but executed in a practical manner.
