Prerequisites

The ISTQB Foundation Level Certification (CTFL) has no formal prerequisites, making it accessible to anyone interested in learning software testing. However, the following are recommended to ensure a smooth learning experience:

Basic IT Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with software development concepts and terminology.
  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Interest in Software Testing:

  • A willingness to learn about software quality assurance and testing processes.
  • While not mandatory, a background in software development, programming, or IT can be beneficial.

EXAM FORMAT

To qualify as an internationally-recognized Certified Foundation Level Tester and be issued with an ISTQB® Foundation Level Certificate, delegates must successfully pass the exam:

  • The examination consists of a one-hour exam with 40 multiple-choice questions.
  • It will be a ‘closed book’ examination i.e. no notes or books will be allowed into the examination room.
  • Duration of 60 minutes (or 75 minutes for candidates taking examinations that are not in their native language)
  • The pass mark is 65% (26 out of 40).

  • You must have two valid certificates : a valid Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate and Certified Agile Foundation Extension certificate.

When is the classroom schedule?

Depending on the starting dates, our classroom courses are consecutively held from 10 am - 6 pm (CET) with lunch breaks in between

Will missing a live class affect my ability to complete the course?

Yes, you may be subject to not getting the exam voucher if you don't attend a class. Therefore, it's better always to let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you require any rescheduling requests.

*note that reschedule request is not always given depending on the situation

How do I book my exam?

You will be provided with a Pearson VUE exam voucher, allowing you to schedule your exam at a time and location that suits you or doing Online test. With testing centers available globally, you can select the nearest Pearson VUE center. Be sure to complete your exam before the voucher expires and bring a valid photo ID on exam day. If the exam is in a language other than your native one, you will receive an additional 23 minutes, making the total exam duration 113 minutes.
