The Translation Course
The Translation Course explores the theory and principles of the translator's art. Our aims throughout the course are to:
- Stimulate participants to grapple with the tough issues in translation
- Develop an attitude of asking questions of the process.
It can be taken directly after the Assignment Related Training (ART) course (see the Diploma Translation module of our MA Field Linguistics) but, more usually, following an 18-24 month internship with SIL.
It may also be required training for those preparing for a specialist role with SIL.
We strongly recommend that all who take the Translation Course also take the preceding Meaning and Communication course.
