The ILM Leadership and Management Award at Level 4 provides a progression opportunity for those people who wish to study at a higher level.
This course is offered as a 12-week evening class programme which leads to the achievement of the Award. Further study can be made available through the offer of single stand-alone units which may build up to a Certificate at Level 5 in Leadership and Management. A series of short 3 hour sessions are offered during the week over the following months, whereby additional units can be studied.

Description

The ILM Leadership and Management Award at Level 4 provides a progression opportunity for those people who wish to study at a higher level.

By studying at Level 4 you will develop the skills required for a middle management role and prepare yourself for the more rigorous demands of study at higher levels.

How long is the course?

Attendance is by evening class over 12 weeks with tutorials as appropriate. The start date is Wednesday 16th January 2013.

How will I be assessed?

Each unit is assessed by means of a work-based assignment. This encourages you to apply the material you learn to your workplace, and thereby achieve improvement in performance and recognition at work.

What will I study?

Understanding the management role to improve management performance

Managing the analysis of secondary data

Additional units which may be offered as stand-alone or building blocks to put towards a Level 5 Certificate:

Planning and leading a complex team activity

Motivating people in the workplace

Solving problems by making effective decisions in the workplace

Managing and implementing change in the workplace

Leading innovation and change
Understanding financial management

Developing people in the workplace

Understanding the importance of marketing for an organisation

Managing projects in the organisation

What does the course lead to?

You could go on to the Foundation Degree in Business Management and top-up honours degree which are available at the college.

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications are required to gain entry onto the course apart from an ability in literacy and numeracy at Level 2. You should be a practising or aspiring manager to have the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable you to benefit from the programme.

Acceptance onto the course will be via an interview with Celia Billau.
