Assessment methods are varied and may include written reports, presentations, case studies, individual/group projects and reflective statements. Where modules are work-related, assessment will relate to your own organisation and/or vocational setting.

  • Construction CAD and Personal Development (Prescribed)

  • Environmental Design and Services (Prescribed)

Year 2 - Level 5

  • Technology and Structures 2 (Core)
  • Project Planning and Development (WBL) (Core)
  • Procurement, Contract and Legal Studies (Core)
  • Built Environment Project and Personal Development (WBL)
  • Services and Sustainable Design or Measurement and Cost Studies (Optional)
  • Maintenance and Refurbishment (Optional)

Bridging module

  • Construction Research Method and Personal Development
  • Module titles may change.

What does the course lead to?

The foundation degree provides a qualification which is nationally recognised within the industry and forms a basis for career progression.

What can I go on to study?

On completion of the course you will be eligible to apply to the BSc (Hons) Construction Management degree at the University of Derby following a summer bridging course.

Entry requirements

All applicants will be invited to an interview to discuss qualifications, experience and any other related issues.

To start this course you will be expected to have successfully completed, or have evidence of working towards, at least one of the following:

  • At least 80 UCAS points
  • Award of National Diploma or National Certificate in a relevant subject
  • NVQ Level 3 award in either Craft or Technician Studies with relevant work or study experience

If you have substantial, relevant work experience rather than qualifications, we will take this into consideration at the interview. However, literacy and numeracy at Level 2 are essential requirements.
