As an apprentice you will gain experience and qualifications as a driver of goods vehicles in the category of 3.5 tonne small vehicles and upwards to articulated vehicles.The licenses relating to this position are C1, C and C+E. If you don't already hold this, you can gain your licence along with your apprenticeship.

The NVQ will be delivered in the workplace where your assessor will visit you for support and assessment.The technical certificate and key skills will be delivered at college on day release.
What will I study?
Your apprenticeship is made up of the following elements to
complete your framework:
- NVQ Driving Goods Vehicles
- Edexcel BTEC certificate in Road Freight Logistics
- Key skills application of number
- Key skills communications
What does the course lead to?
You will be qualified as a HGV driver.You may have the opportunity to progress to a supervisor role and study a level 3 qualification.
What can I go on to study?
The apprenticeship can lead to an advanced apprenticeship at level 3. For this you will be required to work in a position supervising others.Entry requirements
No specific entry requirements are necessary for the apprenticeship. Literacy and numeracy skills to a level one are desirable but we can offer additional learning support if required.As this is an employed position, you must be employed in a relevant role.
How much does it cost?
If you are between the ages of 16 and 18 the apprenticeship is free of charge. If you are 19 and above your employer must pay a one off fee.During your apprenticeship your employer is obliged to pay you a wage at the minimum rate for an apprentice.
