Time required and cost

To achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management you must successfully gain 120 credits. We recommend that you study not more than 60 credits in one year. The course typically takes two years to complete based on 12-16 hours of study each week. There is no time limit for completing the courses in this programme, but we cannot guarantee that the same selection of modules will continue to be available.

For details on module cost please see the table at the bottom of this page. The total cost of the course depends on the modules studied. As a guide the total fee for 2012/13 academic year was from £6985 to £7580.

Our environmental management programme is for people who are interested in designing, managing and participating in more effective environmental management processes.

Students on our environmental management programme are drawn from industry, commerce, local government, consultancies, non-governmental organisations and communities. They include people already involved in environmental management and those who wish to be – both personally and professionally.

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in this expanding sector, as you can select modules that are most relevant to your interests and career aspirations.

Entry requirements

To study for this postgraduate diploma you must hold a bachelors degree from a UK university or other recognised degree-awarding body, or a course at equivalent level. If you do not have a degree you need to be adequately prepared for postgraduate study.

You will also need to be proficient in English, to an IELTS standard of 6.0. If you are unsure you will be able to take a free English test as part of the registration process.

Classification of course

On successful completion of the required modules you can be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management entitling you to use the letters Pg Dip Env Mgmt (Open) after your name.

You may continue your studies and add a further 60 credits to your diploma to gain an MSc Environmental Management.
