Description
This course provides a sound understanding of central aspects of sociological thought and methods and the opportunity to develop a range of skills. It allows the integration of sociological themes, such as socialisation, culture and identity and social differentiation, power and stratification. A key aim of sociology is to encourage students to develop a critical awareness of society.
Students will follow a programme which combines class teaching with small group work, discussion, video material, IT and research projects.

End Qualification:
Year 1: AS Level Sociology
Year 2: A2 Level Sociology
Entry Requirements:
Interview required
5 GCSEs at grade C or above including GCSE English.
Assessment:
AS level:
Unit 1 SCLY 1: 1hr exam (40% of AS)
Unit 2 SCLY 2: 2 hr exam (60% of AS)
A2 level:
Unit 3 SCLY 3: 1hr 30 mins exam (20% of full A-level)
Unit 4 SCLY 4: 2hr exam (30% of full A-level)

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials/resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
