This 3-day introductory level class is recommended for those who are training to be new Operators, Programmers, or System Administrators on the iSeries. The class provides an overview of the iSeries architecture and many of the integrated facilities. Through presentation and several hands-on lab exercises the student will learn how to: use the help facility, navigate the menu structure, use the command prompter, manage library lists, work with spooled output, change assistance levels, send/receive messages, and more. The student will also gain an understanding of the concepts needed for the day-to-day operations in an iSeries environment. Additional topics and hands-on labs include: setting up job and program execution attributes (Subsystems, Job Queues and Output Queues), backup and restore functions, security and relational database facilities, job flow control, printer flow and the operational assistant feature.
