A working knowledge of AIX including one editor, shell programming and system administration tasks such as adding users, devices and filesystems.Course Description:
This course is designed to develop problem determination and solution skills. A variety of system problems will be generated. The attendee will then perform system recovery using standard AIX tools.
Course Objectives
On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Maximise the availability of pSeries servers by performing system recovery from a variety of failures.
- Produce a policy for secure systems
- Produce a policy for replacing disks
- Produce a policy for system backup

- The use and purpose of the Object Data Manager
- Systems Initialisation and boot failures
- Disk Management through the Logical Volume Manager
- Saving and restoring filesystems and volume groups
- mksysb creation and systems recovery
- Journaled Filesystems and JFS2
- Volume Group Management
- The error log, the diag utility and the AIX system dump utility
- Basic performance monitoring
