You do not have to be able to draw and no experience in printing is required as the projects can be tailored to individual needs and personal goals. The course will be enjoyable and beneficial if you are:
- a complete beginner
- an artist or designer wanting to develop your portfolio and learn new skills and techniques
- looking to develop your existing images or drawings into a print
- wishing to make personalised business cards or greetings cards
- taking the first steps to become a designer-maker.
The course is very hands-on and technical support will be provided as well as one-to-one feedback. You will be involved in practical workshops that will cover drawing, mark-making, stencilling and mixing inks for screenprinting on to paper and fabric using pigment and binder, flock, foil, metallic and puff. There will be demonstrations every session and hand-outs on exposing a screen, pigment recipes, designing a repeat pattern, designing for a target market, design trends and colour pallets.
At the end of the course you will have an understanding of hand screenprinting processes, a technical file of printing processes to refer to in the future, a design development and experimentation file and a finished product designed and screen printed by you.
