Is this course for me?

Animal Care is a fast growing and an exciting industry to work in. You will learn about how to care for different types of animals as well as their health and welfare requirements. All Animal Care courses are taught at the Centre for the Arts, Hitchin. We currently have a range of small animals, including a corn snake, tarantula, mice, rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, chinchillas, scorpion, fire-bellied toad, chipmunks and hamsters, and are increasing our range of animals all the time!

What qualifications or skills do I require to study this course?

4 GCSE grades at C or above (including English, Maths & Science)

What does the course involve?

On this course you will learn the wide range of skills required to work within the animal care industry. You will have the opportunity to undertake units from the following options: The Principles of Animal Biology, Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Animal Handling and Monitor Animal Feeding, Principles of Animal Nutrition, Principles of Animal Nursing, Understand and Interpret Animal, Behaviour and Communication, Animal Welfare and Breed Development, Pet Store Design and Animal, Management, Exotic Animal Health and Husbandry, Wildlife Management, Rehabilitation and Dog grooming and training

What option will be open to me if I successfully complete the course? Upon successful completion of this course you can apply for a range of animal care related university courses or look employment within the animal care industry.
