Course Summary:
This part time course is part of the new Foundation Learning curriculum and provides the opportunity for personalised learning programmes for adults working at Entry Level. The course runs over four hours a week and enables learners to achieve the certificate in the first year and the diploma in the second year. It is a holistic programme designed to cover many aspects of life and work skills enabling learners to develop skills in many areas whilst gaining confidence in a large further education setting. A Foundation Learning programme will involve diagnostic assessment, mentoring, and information, advice and guidance for the learner from the point of first contact with the college.
These courses at entry level are especially relevant to adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. There is a high level of pastoral care and support and learners and parents/carers are encouraged to build strong working relationships with the team in the department. Learners are expected to aim high, work hard and enjoy the course. They will discuss what they want to be doing in the future and set targets at initial interview before they start the course.

Career Progression:
