Starting from September 2014, this Foundation Degree is a 2 year full time course, delivered online, with 4 weekend workshops taking place (in Bath) for each year of the course.

Our Foundation Degree is the equivalent of two thirds of a full honours degree (Level 5) with the opportunity to ‘top up’ to a full honours degree at the end of your course by completing the final year.

Our foundation degree will equip you with the relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to achieve academic results as well as improve your performance and productivity in your work place.

As this course is delivered online, you must have access to a computer and to the internet.

What will I learn on this course?

This course provides an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of the early years. Our lecturers have a passion for this subject area and considerable professional and academic experience in both education and health.  Their teaching draws on approaches from many disciplines including psychology, child health, history, philosophy, social science, literature and education.

How will I be assessed on the course?

There are no exams. You will be assessed through a combination of online discussions, presentations, group work, case studies and observations.

Where will my qualification take me?

You’ll already know that working with children is one of the most challenging, rewarding and personally satisfying jobs there is. Obtaining the Foundation Degree means you will gain recognition for your advanced skills with children.

Common career paths include senior practitioner, setting leader, family support worker and Early Years Professional.

If you ‘top-up’ to the full honours degree, you will have the option of continuing your study to become a teacher.
